Privacy Policy

Effective July 12, 2026 · Applies to thehive.fyi and The Hive mobile app

[DRAFT — pending legal review]

The Hive is a client book and payments tool for tattoo artists, built by PayHive. The short version: your client book is yours, we only touch it to run your studio, we never sell it, Stripe handles the card numbers, and there are no ads or trackers anywhere in the product. The long version is below, and it says the same thing.

01 · YOUR ACCOUNT

What we know about you

When you sign up, we collect your name and email address through your Hive identity account. That is how you log in, and it is where we reach you about your account. That's the whole list for account data.

02 · YOUR CLIENT BOOK

Your clients are your clients

Your client list, appointment history, and message history make up your client book. It is owned by you, the artist. We store and process it for exactly one purpose: running your studio: filling slots, booking sessions, sending the follow-ups you configured, keeping the record straight.

We do not sell it. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use one artist's client book to help another artist. It is your book; we are just holding the pen where you tell us to.

03 · TEXT MESSAGES

SMS, consent, and STOP

The Hive sends text messages on your behalf, and only to clients who said yes to hearing from your studio. We do not text people who never opted in.

Any client can reply STOP at any time. When they do, texting to that number stops immediately, and it stays stopped unless they opt back in themselves.

04 · PAYMENTS

Stripe holds the card numbers, not us

Deposits and payments run through Stripe, a payments processor used by millions of businesses. Card numbers and bank account numbers go straight to Stripe. We never store them, and we never see them in full. Stripe's handling of that data is covered by Stripe's privacy policy.

05 · EVIDENCE RECORDS

Proof of what was agreed

When a client authorizes a payment or agrees to a deposit, we keep an evidence record of that authorization: what was agreed, when it happened, and from what device. If a charge is ever disputed, that record is what protects you.

Why it exists: a deposit policy only works if you can prove the client agreed to it. That is all these records are for.
06 · HOW LONG WE KEEP THINGS

Retention and deletion

Agreement and authorization records are kept for five years, because payment disputes can surface long after a session. Everything else lives as long as your account does.

Want out? Ask, and we delete your account on request. Email blake@hibiscus.buzz and it gets handled.

07 · PUSH NOTIFICATIONS

Notifications on your device

If you turn on push notifications in The Hive app, we store an Expo push token for your device so we can tell you when a slot fills or a client replies. That token is revocable: turn notifications off in the app or in your phone's settings and it stops being used.

08 · WHAT WE DON'T DO

No ads. No trackers. No selling data.

  • No ads anywhere in the product.
  • No analytics trackers following you or your clients around.
  • No sale of data, yours or your clients', to anyone, ever.

We make money one way: artists paying for the product. That keeps the incentives clean.
